An Artist in Her Own Right

A Loving Tribute to Frances Levinson

A portrait of Frances Levinson

Frances Levinson

In the preface to his book, "Architectural Rendering Fundamentals," her son, Edward, wrote the following tribute, capturing her profound influence on his life and art.

"My Mother, Frances, did so much to enable me to achieve my architectural goals, that I dedicate this particular achievement to her, and to the loving memories she left with us."

An Inspirational Playground

Starting with a trip to an exhibit of the works of Frank Lloyd Wright (I think I was about six) my Mother took me to Art classes at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, where the Museum became my inspirational playground for the next six years. There was actually one Rembrandt, but…there were, and still are, a variety of Classics.

I was able to take my Mother to that same Museum years later for her to attend classes. She was sadly, an unfulfilled artist in her own right, and produced some serious pieces of sculpture in those classes.

Now, I am the only one alive who remembers her dedication to family: my Father Samuel, my Bubba Anna, and me.
